Whether
you're a regular at FXE or are just in for the day,
everyone will appreciate your help in making Executive
Airport a good neighbor to the surrounding communities.
Executive Airport is one of the busiest general aviation
airports in the country and a noise sensitive airport.
The Airport is continuously striving to be a good neighbor
to nearby residential communities while meeting the
needs of the aviation industry.
Along
with a number of noise abatement procedures, the Airport
has implemented a noise abatement departure turn for
jets. With the turn, north and westbound jets are assigned
a turn to 330 along I-95, rather than along the coast
as they were previously routed. The turn routes over
70% of all jet departures over the commercial and industrial
areas along I-95 and significantly reduces noise over
residential areas.
Along
with these operational changes for noise abatement,
Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport has completed an update
to its Part 150 Noise Compatibility Study. The measures
recommended in the Study were developed with the help
of the Community Advisory Group made up of area residents,
Executive Airport tenants, government officials, and
Airport staff.

Noise Monitoring System
Fort
Lauderdale Executive Airport also operates state-of-the-art
noise monitoring equipment called the Airport Noise and
Operations Monitoring System (ANOMS). The system allows
the airport to collect detailed data on aircraft noise
levels and altitudes over residential areas.
Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport served as the development
site for ANOMS and was the first airport to purchase
it in 1991. The system is currently in use at 30 installations
across the United States and Europe.
The system consists of a passive radar antenna, two
permanent noise monitors, and integration software.
Four additional noise monitors will be installed this
year to help the Airport collect additional noise data.
ANOMS
allows the Airport to link citizen reports of unusually
loud operations to the individual aircraft that generated
the disturbance. The Airport can then determine the
plane's altitude and noise levels over the homes. This
information helps Airport staff follow up with individual
pilots and implement and monitor noise abatement procedures.
Noise Abatement Hotline (954)766-6666
Fort
Lauderdale Executive Airport also operates a 24-hour noise
abatement hotline available to area residents to report
unusually loud or low aircraft. This input helps Airport
staff to use the noise monitoring system to quickly identify
problems and follow up with pilots.
If
you would like to report a disturbance, please provide
your name, phone number and address and the date and
time of the event. Let us know if you would like additional
information in writing or a return call and we will
get back to you as soon as possible during regular business
hours.
