Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport

General Information


Main Entrance:
West Commercial Boulevard and NW 21st Avenue in the City of Fort Lauderdale.

Boundaries:
Commercial Boulevard to the South; NW 64th Street to the North; 31st Avenue to the West, and Powerline Road to the East.

Physical Size:
Situated on approximately 1,200 acres.

Description:
General aviation facility, with the capacity to serve all aircraft other than major airlines. Designated by the Federal Aviation Administration as a general aviation reliever facility for Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Executive Airport Administration:
The Executive Airport is a Division of the Community and Economic Development Department of the City of Fort Lauderdale.

The Division leases, develops, operates, maintains, and promotes Executive Airport and Industrial Airpark to provide the greatest benefit to the community and the highest return of revenue with surplus revenue used for capital improvements.

The Division also develops, operates and promotes the Downtown Helistop.

To attract businesses to the area, help tenants prosper, and benefit the community.

Funding:
Executive Airport is a City-owned and operated facility; however, no taxpayer dollars are used in its operation.

Revenues are generated by land leases and fuel flowage fees. Surplus revenue is used for capital improvement projects or placed in the Airport Enterprise Fund.

Economic Impact:
Aviation businesses employ more than 2,100 local residents and generate approximately $149 million in economic impact in the community each year.

Office and manufacturing businesses in the Airport's Industrial Airpark generate $155 million a year in economic activity and employ and additional 2,200 people.

Taxes:
Airport tenants pay $1.4 million a year in taxes. Twenty-two percent of these taxes are paid to the City of Fort Lauderdale. In addition, the Airport pays more than $500,000 a year to the City in lieu of taxes.

Noise Abatement Hotline:
Residents can call a 24-hour Noise Abatement Hotline (766-6666) to report excessively loud aircraft.

Number of Visitors:
Nearly 200,000 visitors arrive into the area through Executive Airport each year.

Number of Operations:
Approximately 240,000 per year.

Hours of Operation:
The Airport is open 24 hours a day with a 24-hour FAA Air Traffic Control Tower.

Runways:
Two asphalt runways with a maximum gross landing weight of 60,000 pounds.

Runway 8/26 measures 6,000 feet by 100 feet and has an Instrument Landing System. Runway 13/31 measures 4,000 by 100 feet.
